Advancing equity to support UHC: Tools and approaches for #NextGenFP.
Countries around the world are celebrating progress made over the past eight years through FP2020 partnerships, which were made possible by ambitious commitments to meeting women’s and couples’ reproductive health needs. Despite the progress, substantial gaps in FP coverage remain.
As we enter the Decade of Action to reach the 2030 Agenda and SDGs, it is important for the global community to ask ourselves, “How do we define and achieve equity?,” and “How do we ensure we do not leave anyone behind?” It is not enough to advocate that FP be included within Universal Health Coverage (UHC); we must also ensure equity in family planning. This side session will launch a broader conversation about how to define, measure, address and monitor equity within FP programs and research. Specific tools and approaches that can be incorporated into projects will be shared as well as global, country and individual perspectives about how we can support a vision for #NextGenFP that is as inclusive as possible.
