INNOVATIONS IN FAMILY PLANNING RESEARCH DURING COVID-19

This scientific panel highlights research findings on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on family planning and the innovative responses undertaken to mitigate its effects.

Dr. Beth Kangwana, from Population Council, Kenya will discuss how COVID-19 has affected adolescents’ use of FP in urban slums.

Dr. Jean Lambert Chalachala, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will highlight innovations that organizations within the DRC have been implementing to address FP access shortages.

Dr. Laura Lindberg, from the Guttmacher Institute will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on women’s sexual and reproductive health in the United States.

Dr. Vinit Sharma, from UNFPA, Asia Pacific Regional Office will highlight how efforts to model the pandemic’s effects on FP in Asia led to regional and national program adaptation and innovation.

Each presenter will speak for 15 minutes, followed by a Q&A session facilitated by Dr. Caroline Moreau to address questions and provide more insight on key lessons.
