SRHR Advocacy Officer/Medical Student, Talent Youth Association
Lulit Yonas Mengesha is a 24 years old final-year medical student at Addis Ababa University, Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital. She currently serves as an SRHR advocacy officer at an organization called Talent Youth Association (TaYA).
Lulit was part of the 4th Cohort of Youth Champions Initiative as a Rise Up Young Leader and the 1st Cohort of ONE Champions for East Africa. She volunteers as a local project coordinator for Project SHEBA (Sexual Health Education for Better Awareness) which works to promote gender equality in intimate partnerships in rural high schools of Ethiopia. The project has won the Rex Crossley award from the International Federation of Medical Students’ Association due to its achievement in promoting informed decision-making for health among teenagers.
Lulit volunteers in several activities that promote the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of young people and is passionate to ensure meaningful youth participation in SRHR projects in order to address the needs of young people.
