Dr. Kayode Afolabi holds a Bachelor Degree in Medicine and Surgery and a Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He has 30 years’ experience in the field of Reproductive Health. Within this period, he worked as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital and the University College Hospital, both in Ibadan. He also served the Oyo State Government of Nigeria as a Honourable Commissioner of Health.
Currently, Dr. Kayode Afolabi provides leadership in Sexual and Reproductive Health System Strengthening, Government Policy Development towards improving health of the mother, adolescent and the under five children in Nigeria. He has recorded notable achievements on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights working with Civil Society Organisations, Private Sector, United Nations Agencies, Donors and Implementing Partners as the Director and Head, Reproductive Health Division of the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria. His skills and experience cover Demand Generation; Human Capacity Development; Advocacy and Partnerships Building with Governments, Donors, Bilateral Institutions, Academic, Private Sector, Civil Society and UN Agencies. Resource Mobilization, Operational and Technical Management of complex SRH Programmes and Policy Development are his areas of strength. Dr Kayode Afolabi also has skills and experience in coordinating development of National and Sub-national level Guidelines, State-specific Costed Implementation Plan, Service Protocol and documenting achievements as well as best practices.
His Strategic Leadership and Coordination of Stakeholders entail Planning, Guidance and Management of Government/Donor Resources for effective implementation of Programmes and Performance Management towards achieving related SDGs.
