The recent overturning by the US Supreme Court of its 1973 landmark decision in the case of Roe v Wade brings a devastating rollback on reproductive rights in the US, putting approximately 40 million women and girls of reproductive age at risk of losing access to abortion care.

Its impact will reverberate also far beyond US borders, emboldening anti-abortion, anti-women and anti-gender movements across the globe.

However, against this tide, advocates, service providers, and lawmakers in the US and around the world are standing up for abortion rights.

For many activists and practitioners, confronting harmful norms and providing care in challenging legal settings is a daily reality.

This webinar will hear from abortion rights activists and health care providers who’re persevering against the odds, who support women in restrictive settings and mobilise vast movements for change – and will discuss what lessons can be drawn from their work, both for the current US context and other challenging legal and policy environments.
