Maggie Farrell

Global Health Consultant

Marguerite Farrell is a Global Health Consultant.  She worked at USAID for 22 years until December 2020 and served as a Health Officer and as the Private Sector Team Leader, the Zika Team Leader and the Youth Team Leader in USAID’s Global Health Bureau.  She served as Technical Advisor and manager for the Commercial Market Strategies project, for PSP-One, Banking on Health, the SHOPS project, the Management and Leadership project, the Leadership, Management and Sustainability project, the Bayer Contraceptive Security Initiative, and PSI and MSI SIFPO 1 and 2 projects. She most recently served as the manager for the Advancing Partners and Communities project. She led the Total Market Approaches working group and the Family Planning Graduation Working group. She served as a PRH representative on the Global Health Private Sector Engagement working group. She was the Chair of the HANSHEP donors group for private sector health that includes the World Bank, IFC, BMGF, DFID, Rockefeller, and WHO.

Ms. Farrell worked in domestic health through community and union organizing with low income, senior and immigrant populations for seven years and in global health for 31 years. She has expertise in private sector health, health systems strengthening, leadership and management in health, evaluation, service delivery, training and performance improvement and quality assurance in family planning, child survival, Zika and HIV/AIDS. Ms. Farrell has worked in numerous countries and lived in the Philippines, Ecuador and Spain. She has worked for Project Hope, Development Associates, the Futures Group International, and in both the Latin America and Caribbean Bureau and the Global Health Bureau at USAID. She is fluent in Spanish and proficient in French. Ms. Farrell graduated from Brown University with a BA in International Relations and extensive course work in Hispanic studies and received her Master of Science degree from Harvard School of Public Health in International Health Policy and Management.
