Nicholas Odhiambo Olwero is a registered community health nurse working in Migori County, Kenya for the last 20 years. Nicholas is stationed at Oyani SDA Dispensary, a faith-based health facility located in a remote and hard-to-reach area in West Kanyamkago Ward of Uriri Sub County in Migori County. It is located in western Kenya and borders Homa Bay County, Kisii County, Narok, Tanzania and Lake Victoria to the West.
In his role as the facility-nursing officer, Nicholas offers preventive, promotive and curative services to men, women and children within the facility’s catchment population. He has a strong passion for Reproductive, Maternal, New born and Child Health services (RMNCH). His main area of interest is in providing family planning services to the catchment population in order to contribute to an increase in the Migori County Contraceptive Prevalence Rate. To achieve this, Nicholas works through community health structures and high impact interventions specifically designed to increase accessibility and availability of family planning services.
His personal objective is to have a future where all men support their partners in adopting family planning methods of their choice for better health and wellbeing.
