Youth Champion, Feminist Futures India (CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality)

Growing up in a community where there is so much taboo and shame around our bodies, I saw the consequences of body illiteracy. Therefore, consciously advocating for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for me, is an act of love. Young people and women even today are being denied access to knowledge about their bodies. My conviction to re-establish our relationship with our bodies motivate me to keep re-learning. Stories bind us together. I’m passionate about using storytelling to address our community issues. We must pursue to create safe spaces where young people are encouraged to share their bodily issues and relationships, and are listened to.

As a Youth Champion of Feminist Futures India which is a project by Choice for Youth and Sexuality, we have been working to address how lack of Comprehensive Sexuality Education is affecting the way young people experience and understand consent and bodily autonomy. We engage with stakeholders and church leaders to advance our work through meaningful youth participation. I’m a winner of 120 under 40 The New Generation of Family Planning Leaders. I was part of ICFP 2018, and I’m excited to find different paths again to learn and connect at ICFP 2022.
