Sesilia Shirima is a feminist and a clinician in Tanzania. She has great passion for Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights.Her work has ranged from service delivery, community work, advocacy, leadership and training in the past 7 years.
She is a co-founder of Young and Alive Initiative, a youth-led organization that works on SRHR in Tanzania and a former leader of the Student-led Sexual Health Club in Mtwara Tanzania.
Sesilia has worked for the government and Mkapa Foundation in Tanzania as the head of HIV/AIDs department in one of the rural clinics in Tanzania and in Marie Stopes Tanzania in Mbeya center as clinical in charge where she provides SRH service to women and young people.
She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Young and alive Initiative. Leading youths in the organization providing youth capacity development, advocacy activities in sexual reproductive health and rights, Including Gender-based violence, and leadership in Tanzania. She is within different women and young people movements including coalitions like (Tanzania Youth and Adolescents Health Coalition), (Women Human Right Defender Tanzania) and forums like (Tanzania Feminist Forum), (Mwalimu Nyerere, Gender and Leadership Forum) (Women Directors Forum).She is also a third year student taking degree of gender and development in Mwalimu nyerere Academy Tanzania. She is a trainer of SRHR, Leadership, human rights and women political participation.
