Faith-based organizations have provided family planning services as part of basic healthcare for decades. People of faith value healthy families and understand that healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies is good for mothers, children and the entire family. Why does there still seem to be a disconnect in the minds of many between religion and family planning? How does the faith community talk about family planning in a way that overcomes negative misperceptions? And how can we partner with the faith community to educate and deliver family planning services? Moderator Yoram Siame of the Churches Health Association of Zambia will lead this discussion.

Yoram Siame (Moderator), Director of Advocacy Planning and Development at the Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ)
Yoram Siame, MPH, MSc serves as Director of Advocacy Planning and Development at the Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ). Before joining CHAZ, Yoram co-founded Youth Alive Zambia in which he managed HIV and AIDS programs. He works with religious leaders, training them to advocate for family planning in their communities and to their governments. Bicbic Chua, Executive Director of the Catholics for Reproductive Health
Bicbic Chua is the Executive Director of the Catholics for Reproductive Health (C4RH), an advocacy group that endeavors to bring Catholics into full harmony with their faith and their right to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). She also serves as the lead convener for the Interfaith for Dignity and Equality Advancement and Solidarity (IDEAS). She is a member of the Gender and Development (GAD) Resource Pool of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW)—accredited to provide technical assistance to government agencies and local government units on gender and development.
Mohammed Bun Bida, Director of Muslim Family Counselling Services
Mohammed Bun Bida is a Muslim Scholar with extensive experience in using a multi-faith approach to social, health (Sexual and Reproductive Health/Family Planning) and human rights. Bun Bida is currently the Director of Muslim Family Counselling Services; the West African Coordinator for the Faith to Action Network, a global network of faith-based organizations working in health and a member of the Expert Advisory Committee of FP2020. Bun Bida has vast experience in community mobilization and engagement and has over the years headed several advocacy and direct service initiatives in Ghana and at a global level. Bun Bida is also the National Advocacy Leader for the Family Planning Advocates Platform Ghana.
