The 2018 International Conference on Family Planning will commence with an inspirational welcome to all attendees who traveled from near and far to Kigali, Rwanda, with the united mission to improve family planning worldwide through evidence-based practices. Speakers at this ceremony include the UNFPA Executive Director, Dr. Natalia Kanem; Director General of WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus; Canadian Minister of International Development, Marie-Claude Bibeau; Secretary of State for International Development, The Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt MP; President of the Global Development Division of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Dr. Chris Elias; Dean of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Dr. Ellen MacKenzie; the Director of the Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health and Chair of the ICFP International Steering Committee, José Oying Rimon II, and special youth delegate Sadia Rahman, country coordinator for the International Youth Alliance for Family Planning Bangladesh. The Global Humanitarian Award for Women’s and Children’s Health will be announced and awarded.
