Contribute to ICFP’s E-Learning Module

Jan 10, 2022

Dear 2022 ICFP International Steering Committee Members,

We hope that you are all enjoying the new year.

The 2022 International Conference on Family Planning’s Secretariat and Scientific Subcommittee wish to encourage those chosen to present a paper or poster at the 2022 ICFP to publish their work in a scientific journal.  As part of this effort, we are developing an e-learning module focused on the elements we feel abstract writers should keep in mind during the early abstract-writing process, in order to make the conversion from abstract to journal manuscript as easy as possible after their presentation at the ICFP.

To make this module most impactful, we would like to include journal articles stemming from abstracts presented at past ICFPs, as well as brief video segments offering advice and experiences from ICFP members who have published in journals.  We are asking you (and your colleagues from across the global family planning community), to participate in this incredibly important capacity-building project, by sharing the impactful lessons you have learned that can be included in this special e-learning module.

As well, ICFP and our partners plan to offer additional scientific writing support workshops and mentorship opportunities that will be held during and in the months following the 2022 ICFP to further assist conference presenters with converting their ICFP abstracts into journal articles/manuscripts.

We would greatly appreciate your assistance in these efforts to increase the scientific writing capacity of the ICFP community.  If you (or someone you would recommend), are willing to share your insights and experiences by supplying journal articles and abstract examples or participating in a brief video interview via Zoom, please complete this survey as soon as possible.

We would like to have representation from a variety of areas of the family planning community that focus on successful research, advocacy efforts, and/or program implementation.  As well, we would particularly like to include the work and recommendations from our colleagues from the global south.  Lastly, we plan to offer this module in both English and French and thus, would hope to conduct interviews with Anglophone and Francophone colleagues.

As we aim to have this module finalized before the 2022 ICFP abstract submission portal opens on February 1, 2022, we will reach out to you immediately to gather your materials and/or schedule your short video Zoom interview (approximately 30 minutes in length), between 10-21 January 2022.

Thank you for your continued support of the ICFP community.  If you have any questions, please email us at info@theicfp.org.

Sincerely,

Kellie Welborn
2022 International Conference on Family Planning International Steering Committee Secretariat Director
