Beyond 2020: thinking beyond imagination / Au-delà de 2020 : Penser au-delà de l’imagination
The family planning community has shown that given access to the right resources, best practices, bold policies and new ways of programming, it is capable of achieving more and continue to bend the curve toward the 2020 goals as well as the SDG 2030 goal of “ensuring universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including for family planning, information and education, and the integration of reproductive health into national strategies and programs”. With two years left, after the International Conference on Family Planning in Kigali, much more can be accomplished as the FP community continues to bend the curve in reaching more who need family planning.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health (GI) will bring together and host representatives from key family planning sectors – governments, donors, civil society organizations, bilateral and multilateral organizations, pharmaceutical and private businesses, and youth rights activists to lead a panel of what next beyond 2020. This panel presents a unique and timely opportunity for both retro- and prospective explorations of existing donor mechanisms, policy design and implementation frameworks, and performance monitoring and accountability tools. These explorations will allow proper adaptation to major recommended steps to be undertaken beyond 2020 to realize universal access to rights-based family planning by 2030.
The Panel will address “Beyond 2020” issues by covering the following topics:
Resources and Financing:
- The future landscape of financing and shifting towards country ownership
- Positive disruptions in family planning policies and programs
- Post-2020 mechanisms and accountability
