SRHR: Integral to Transformative and Gender-Responsive UHC

This factsheet identifies why sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) are essential to UHC and why, especially in the face of COVID-19, incorporating SRHR into UHC is crucial for the health of girls, women, and gender-diverse people. It provides links to tools for tracking progress on SRHR in UHC at multiple levels. And, geared towards advocates, but useful to everyone, it equips advocates with practical demands and ways to engage. It was prepared in advance of the 75th World Health Assembly and will support advocacy toward the 2023 High-Level Meeting on UHC.

Citizens Call for a Gender-Equal World: A Roadmap for Action

This first-of-its-kind international survey by Women Deliver and Focus 2030, published ahead of last year’s landmark Generation Equality Forum, found that the global public overwhelmingly supports gender equality, and a resounding majority is ready for their governments to take action. The study’s findings offer a roadmap of priority actions that governments, the private sector, and civil society should focus on to accelerate progress on gender equality, including increasing access to contraception and family planning options (see page 60).

Women Deliver is a global advocacy organization that unequivocally demands access to contraception, abortion, and the full suite of sexual and reproductive health and rights for all girls and women. Across our focus areas — including health, climate action, and economic justice and rights — SRHR is both our entry point and foundation. In everything we do, we aim to advance the health and rights of girls and women, while reframing who leads, ensuring that the perspectives of those closest to and living the challenges that girls and women face — grassroots feminist organizations, and youth, particularly adolescent girls — are front and center.
