Providing Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) Learning Resource Package
Family planning is a right. It saves lives and gives women the time, health and energy to care for their families, stay in school, get a job or start a business. Yet millions of women still lack access to modern contraception and reproductive health care. Our goal is to ensure that all individuals’ sexual and reproductive health and rights are respected, protected and fulfilled.
To achieve this vision, Jhpiego follows a multipronged approach: address the knowledge, attitudes, behavior and social norms surrounding family planning and reproductive health; optimize organization and delivery of family planning and reproductive health services; and create an environment that supports provision and continued use of these services.
A new vision to transform family planning
We have a new vision to transform family planning. Under the leadership of our new family planning and reproductive health director, Dr. Gathari Ndirangu, we will help millions of women access the family planning services they want and need. We plan to do this by integrating family planning with other health and non-healthcare areas; innovating ways to deliver our core strengths more efficiently, effectively and sustainably; striving to offer more and better contraceptive choices through diverse channels of delivery; and leveraging data for decision-making and the private sector to increase impact.
Better Business Management Improves Family Planning
Family planning services can suffer without strong facility management. The Mutiara Bunda Hospital in Indonesia’s Central Java province saw that building robust business management systems brought multiple wins, including improved postpartum family planning service provision.
