Emergency contraception pills (ECPs) are part of the family planning method mix offered at least in the private sector in most countries in the world.

Although knowledge varies largely between and within countries, more individuals now know about EC pills and how to obtain them, and it is fair to say that EC has become a well-recognized contraceptive.
