COMMUNITY SESSION
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS TO ENSURE CONTINUED ACCESS TO CONTRACEPTION IN A CRISIS
This session will bring together humanitarian and development stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities involved in integrating good quality family planning services into emergency preparedness plans and activities.
The session will include short presentations of case studies in which emergency preparedness contributed to good contraceptive service delivery during a crisis. Presenters will discuss their experiences responding to a hurricane in Vanuatu; using lessons learned from Ebola in the DRC to respond to COVID-19; and negotiating an active conflict while ensuring the continuation of family planning services in Yemen. There will be ample time to ask questions and discuss effective strategies for ensuring access to family planning, even in the most challenging settings.
MODERATOR: Dr. Jessica Kakesa
